Prayer is an important part of our faith life. It brings comfort during life’s challenges, gratitude for blessings received, and way to communicate with God.
Daily prayer is an intentional and meaningful way to strengthen and nurture your personal relationship with Jesus Christ. The Augustana prayer ministry invites you to Pause to Pray with our faith community twice each day, at 8:00 am and 8:00 pm. Each week, a member of our Prayer Ministry creates a Prayer of the Week based on the Sunday sermon for you to reflect upon or use in your daily prayer life.
FAITH COMMUNITY PRAYER
Faith community prayer is available at Augustana in two ways:
- Intercessory Prayer Team (The Weavers) confidentially pray for the needs of others. To request prayer support you may call the church office at 651.457.3373 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
- Weekly prayers of the church are offered during worship services each Sunday. Prayer petitions may include prayers for healing, celebration, sorrow, congregational partners, local mission partners and current events.
The Prayer Room is a dedicated quiet space for individual and small group meditation. There are prayer books and other resources available. Sacred space is created with an alter, hand-carved trifold depicing the 12 apostles and lots of natural light. The room is available during church office hours.
The focus of Centering Prayer is the deepening of our relationship with Christ. We may think of prayer as thoughts or feelings expressed in words. But this is only one expression. In the Christian tradition, contemplative prayer is considered to be a pure of God. It is the opening of mind and heart–our whole being–to God. Brochures are available in the Prayer Room or you are invited to experience a group Centering Prayer practice. The group meets most Monday mornings. Call the church office at 651.457.3373 a detailed schedule.
