What I actually do at Augustana?
My official title is Faith Community nurse. I am a registered nurse and have taken classes to prepare me to work in a faith community setting. I love what I do. I am at Augustana to care for people in mind, body and spirit. It is a privilege to care for you in times of joy and times of challenge.
A few of the things I do are:
- Am available in my office to listen to your story, to guide you to resources, to take your blood pressure, share information about health related topics, etc.
- Provide leadership to the caring ministries such as Befrienders, Baby Blanket Ministry, Care Team, the Gathering, Prayer Shawl Ministry and Grief Ministry.
- Visit our members in the hospital and those who are not able to attend church to share communion.
Many of you who know me have heard my share that my favorite Bible verse and mantra is “Be still and know that I am God Psalm 46:10”
(Great mantra when you are feeling anxious or cannot sleep)
When I am not at Augustana you may find me drinking a dark roast Starbucks coffee, or planning a trip to visit my daughter, son or a warm weather destination.
The other thing I want you to know is I grew up on a farm in IA.
