Holy Communion, also called the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper, is the part of our worship life we believe sustains followers of Jesus Christ on their faith journeys. God’s gifts of grace, forgiveness, and new life received through faith, come in this meal. Augustana invites all who believe in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior to participate as his guest at his table.

Augustana welcomes children in 2nd grade and older to participate in the First Communion class. Classes are usually held in February or March. Students and parents must attend one of the classes to be communed. Children learn about the Exodus, the Last Supper, and about the Sacrament of Holy Communion as we celebrate it today. We celebrate First Communion for children on Holy Thursday.
