Pastor Jason Bryan-Wegner

Senior Pastor
651-457-3373
pastorjason@augustana.com

What I actually do at Augustana:

I lead the staff and leadership of the congregation in discerning God’s mission for our congregation. I preach and lead worship. I visit with kids, families, those who are sick and those who are grieving. I spend as much time with people as possible.

My favorite Bible verse:

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, his mercies never come to an end. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. LAMENTATIONS 3:22-23

When I’m not at Augustana, you can find me:

Downhill skiing in the winter, golfing or camping in the summer, traveling, playing cards with my wife and two kids, reading a good book, or checking out a new brewery.

One more thing I’d like you to know:

I love to hear people’s stories and see where their lives connect to God. My mission as a pastor is to help people connect to God and others in ways that transform lives and communities.

Deacon Stephanie Anderson

Deacon of Discipleship & Community Mission

deaconstephanie@augustana.com

What I actually do at Augustana:

I lead the staff and programs associated with faith formation and discipleship as well as community mission.

My favorite Bible verse:

My favorite verse is Micah 6:8 because it grounds me in the basics of my faith: “God has told you, O mortal, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?” However, my favorite story from scripture is the Road to Emmaus, where Jesus accompanies the

disciples on a walk, listening to their suffering and only revealing himself to them afterward. How many ways is Christ revealed to us in the unexpected each and every day, in our own mundane moments?

When I’m not at Augustana, you can find me:

At the cabin in Ely, Minnesota! We try to get up to lake as much as we can, for the joy and restoration that comes with the north woods.

One more thing I’d like you to know:

Breakfast is my favorite food group!

My favorite Bible verse is: For the Lord is good; His steadfast love endures forever, And his faithfulness to all generations. PSALM 100:5

We are reminded to come into God’s presence with singing and to serve Him with gladness.  And the fifth verse, which is my favorite, assures us of His everlasting love.

When I’m not at Augustana you may find me:

I love to learn new ways to improve health through cooking and eating better, keeping up with changing research, and exercise. In the warmer months, I love to take long walks and hikes, kayak, canoe, and bike (my husband and I have a tandem bicycle that we love to ride on the many trails in the Cities). In the colder months, I like to cross-country ski and snowshoe, especially on the North Shore.

The other thing I want you to know:

My husband and I and our 4 children have been blessed to have lived internationally, 8 years in rural Tanzania and 5 years in urban China. We have served as missionaries, reaching out to people with practical solutions to everyday problems, while sharing our hope in Jesus. I loved living

What I actually do at Augustana:

I encourage meaning making through story, wonder, and play for children and their families. Together with families, volunteers, and other Augustana staff, we nurture spiritual lives by honoring the centrality, competency, and capacity of children. I work with families who have children age 0 – 6th grade. You’ll often find me sitting on the floor telling a story.

My favorite Bible verse is: and maybe a sentence as to why.

“By the tender compassion of our God, the dawn from on high will shine upon us” (Luke 1:78)

I love all the songs in the Gospel of Luke. The theology of these songs have been shaping me, changing me, since I was young because we sing them all the time in worship. And like all good art, as I come back to them time and again simply by going to church, they continue to change me. But I had to pick one verse and so I’d pick this one from Zechariah’s song. It’s a reminder to me, that God’s mercy and compassion is accompanied by the bringing forth of a new day full of hope and promise and brightness and freedom.
