Kids Kingdom (Sunday School)

9:45 to 10:45 am | October to May

Kid’s Kingdom (Sunday School) has started! We gather kids ages 4 through grade 4 on Sunday mornings at 9:45am to learn about Jesus through Bible stories, activities, and play. Registration is open now! While pre-registration isn’t required, it helps us plan.

Club 56

7:00 to 8:00 pm | Wednesdays | September to May

Youth going into grades 5 and 6 are invited to hang out, play games, eat snacks, do a short lesson or devotion and most of all, have fun and get to know the other youth at Augustana. We will meet in the Club 56 space on the lower level (rooms 6 and 7). Friends are welcome to attend with you! Please register using the buttons on the right side of this page.

Children’s Choir

Wednesdays   |   6:00 to 6:45 pm | Wednesdays | September to May

All children in 1st – 6th grade are invited to join Children’s Choir! Ours is a joyful group and a place where you can make new friends, gain music skills and learn about God. We will share our music 1-2 times per month during worship. Contact director Kim Zemple for more information.

Where Faith Meets Family Monthly Events

Monthly Family Make & Take Projects
9:45 to 10:45 am | Third Sunday of each month
Families of all shape, sizes, and ages are invited to join our new monthly Where Faith Meets Family Take & Make project. We’ll gather during the 9:45 am hour, in place of Youth Forum and Kids’ Kingdom to learn about the project for the month. Families will receive ideas on how to grow their faith together and receive a bag of supplies (and instructions) to take home. We will meet in the Lower Level Commons.

Worshiping with Children

Children are Right Where They Belong in Worship at Augustana!

Augustana warmly welcomes the wiggles and giggles of children in worship. Families have several options for worshiping with their children:

Prayground. Soft toys, books, blocks and child-size table and chairs await your child in the Prayground located toward the front of the Sanctuary.

Worship bags for Children. Pick up a bag as you enter the Sanctuary and let your child explore the contents including fidget toys, easy-to-understand card describing parts of worship, images of some of the people they will frequently see in worship (pastors, organists, etc).

Nursery. Our nursery is conveniently located right outside the Sanctuary if your child just needs a break from worship. It is staffed on Sunday mornings at 8:30 and 9:45, Wednesday evenings from 5:50 to 8:00, and as needed for other events and activities.

First Communion

Augustana welcomes children in 2nd grade and older to participate in the First Communion class. Classes are held in February or March, typically about two weeks before Holy Week. We celebrate First Communion for children during a service on Maundy Thursday. Students and parents must attend one of the classes to be communed. Children learn about the Last Supper, basic Lutheran communion concepts, and the Sacrament of Holy Communion as we celebrate it today. Please choose one of the following dates to attend this class with your child. Please note: this is not a drop-off class; at least one parent must accompany his or her child. Call the church office if you have questions and to RSVP for your choice of class date.

Summer Camps

Augustana offers several camps and Vacation Bible School (VBS) throughout the summer for children of all ages.

Families

Where Faith Meets Life Monthly Family Events

These events are held throughout the year. Families get together and make a project that can be used at home or outside of church to strengthen faith.

Parent Lounge

The Parent Lounge is located on the lower level. It is a place for parents to gather on Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings to talk with other parents about current events surrounding children, families, and our communities. Each week a conversation starter topic will be posted on the board. Coffee and water are provided. We also have a Take a Book/Share a Book bookshelf for all to enjoy. Because this is an area for parents to connect and relax, we ask that parents please not bring children into the lounge. The Parent Lounge was made possible by the Augustana Harvest Fund, an endowment fund that provides additional resources to assist the congregation in its ministry and programming.
