Children

Kids Kingdom (Sunday School)
9:45 to 10:45 am (September to May)

Augustana uses the Workshop Rotation Model, a learning environment where children in grades 1 through 6 rotate to a different learning center each week to explore Bible stories and focus on a particular area, such as crafts, science, games, videos, or cooking.

Children three years old through kindergarten stay in their classrooms with the same teachers each Sunday.

2019-20 Registration Form

Basic – Brothers and Sisters In Christ

BASIC promotes youth involvement at Augustana through social activities. Children in grades 4 to 6 connect with other young Christians, get involved in service to others, and have fun. Parents lead group activities such as horseback riding, bike rides, snow tubing, and bowling.

First Communion

Augustana welcomes children in 2nd grade and older to participate in the first Communion class. Classes are held in February or March, typically about two weeks before Holy Week. We celebrate First Communion for children during a service on Maundy Thursday. Students and parents must attend one of the classes to be communed. Children learn about the Last Supper, basic Lutheran communion concepts, and the Sacrament of Holy Communion as we celebrate it today. Please choose one of the following dates to attend this class with your child. Please note: this is not a drop-off class; at least one parent must accompany his or her child. Call the church office if you have questions and to RSVP for your choice of class date.

First Communion dates: TBD

Summer Camps

Augustana offers many camps throughout the summer for children of all ages. Brochures and registration forms for Summer of 2020 will be available February 2020.

Families

Where Faith Meets Life Monthly Family Events

These events are held the second Sunday in October, December, February, and April. Families get together and make a project that can be used at home or outside of church to strengthen faith. Lunch is provided at each event (free will offering).

Summer Family Fun Nights

Enjoy summer nights with your Augustana family and friends. Open to families with kids of all ages, come for food, fun, and fellowship, with dinner at 5:30 pm followed by a fun activity at 6:00 pm. A free will offering is taken for dinner, but the cost of the activity is free. Sign-up is important so we have enough supplies for everyone. Friends and neighbors are welcome to come with you. Sign-up at the Information Center or email chendrikson@augustana.com.

Parents Lounge

The Parent Lounge is a place for Kids Kingdom parents to gather on Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings to talk with other parents about current events surrounding children, families, and our communities. Each week a conversation starter topic will be posted on the board. Coffee and water are provided. We also have a Take a Book/Share a Book bookshelf for all to enjoy. Because this is an area for parents to connect and relax, we ask that parents please not bring children into the lounge at any time. Nursery is available on Sunday mornings for children age 3 years and younger and on Wednesday evenings for children of all ages who are not in choir.

The Parent Lounge was made possible by the Augustana Harvest Fund, an endowment fund that provides additional resources to assist the congregation in its ministry and programming.
